I wanted to feature my own wedding because during the planning process, I felt I had to compromise on some things (venue, decor, etc.) due to a tight budget. Many couples out there might feel the same way and it can be frustrating and make an otherwise happy time feel disappointing. Once I accepted my choice to stick to my budget the options I found still worked and came together to make for a wonderful event. Plus I had a lot of amazing friends and family that were willing to lend a hand wherever they could.
My husband being a chef, the food was especially important to us and since I’m an event planner I wanted to make sure everyone had a GREAT time. Those were two things we were not willing to compromise and it paid off. We stuck with our budget but still were able to create a memorable experience. A few years since our wedding, we have no regrets with how it all turned out. Our wedding day was wonderful and we had an amazing time with the people we cherish most. To this day, people are still talking about how amazing the food was (“Best wedding food ever!” was thrown around more than once) and how “lit” the dance floor was!
Bottom line – your dream wedding might not be what you expected and it definitely doesn’t need to break the bank.
